Unmatched Versatility with Our Cross Collar Clamps  in the pERMIAN bASIN

Grunt’s Cross Collar clamps are designed to fit precisely on each side of the coupling which in turn does not allow the clamp to move laterally when clamped on. The clamp has been tested and applies the perfect amount of pressure on the cable in the center section of the #2 and #4 cable so the armour does not get damaged over the edges of the coupling. The clamps also use a channel to protect the cable and control lines separately.  Grunt’s clamp can be custom designed to suit any techline and CT line combination.

Key Features:

  • Low Carbon style cast
  • One-piece, lightweight
  • Refurbishable with 3-4 runs per clamp on average
  • Fits coupling precisely which prevents the guard from moving laterally
  • Captive Class 10.9 bolts (Grade 8) with 40cr coating
  • Quick installation
  • Free installation when paired with Grunt’s Spooling Services
  •

The Grunt #2-#4 Cross Collar Clamps are engineered for excellence, capable of accommodating both #2 and #4 cables. Crafted from premium annealed ductile iron, these clamps are designed for every wellbore application, ensuring durability and reliability in challenging conditions.

Our Clamps #2 – #4 feature dual 1/4″ specifications and are fully customizable to meet our customers’ unique needs.

Wolf process technology's Octopus™ Online solids removal system

A major operator in the Permian Basin – one of the most prolific oil and gas regions in the world – was faced with persistent sand management challenges. Frequent shut downs for hazardous cleanout operations. Equipment operating below specification because of sand accumulation. Damage to vessels, valves, and downstream equipment. Even leaks and fugitive emissions.

We solved these challenges by installing the Octopus™ online solids removal system in their most affected production separators and vessels, enabling them to clean out the sand without shutting in production.

The Octopus™ online solids removal system delivered impressive results that addressed our client’s problems.

  • Uninterrupted Production. The separator continued full production throughout the cleaning operation, with no disturbances to the separation process. This was a critical outcome that significantly improved the operator’s revenue.
  • Optimized Separation Efficiency. The operator is able to remove sand much more frequently, helping to optimize separation performance.
  • Significant Cost Savings. The adaptability of the Octopus™ for retrofit to existing vessels, and the availability of mobile operating services, drastically reduced capital costs compared to traditional sand management strategies. Routine sand removal with the Octopus™ also reduces the risk of failure due to erosion, lowering the life cycle operating cost of production equipment.
  • Enhanced Safety. The reduction in crew-assisted intervention lowered the risk of exposure to hazardous conditions, contributing to a safer working environment for the operator’s personnel.
  • Improved Environmental Performance. Emission risks were reduced by avoiding breaking containment and by routinely removing sand that would otherwise contribute to dump valve failures that can lead to gas blowby –  a super-emitter source of methane emissions. This helped the site remain compliant with environmental regulations and reduced the chance of incidents.

Conclusions

The Octopus™ online solids removal system is revolutionizing sand management in the Permian Basin by providing a robust, cost-effective solution that enhances both efficiency and safety.  This successful implementation demonstrates our commitment to innovation and operational excellence, setting a new standard for solids management in unconventional oil and gas plays.

How is the OCTOPUS Different?

The OCTOPUS sets itself apart with two key innovations that make it quicker and easier to install at a significantly lower cost compared to traditional cyclonic jetting systems:

01

Materials and Flexible Pipe

The OCTOPUS utilizes low-cost, abrasion-resistant polyethylene, mitigating the risk of galvanic corrosion typically seen in stainless-steel manifolds.

The flexible pipe and patent-pending OCTOPUS hub enable optimal fluidizer placement without the need for custom engineering or manufacturing.

Easy Installation

The Octopus™ makes a great addition to any new tank or vessel, but it’s also easy to retrofit into existing process vessels.

Accordingly, our Wolf Process Technology Certified installation crews are fully trained to work in field retrofit as well as factory new-build environments.

Innovations such as magnetic attachments, flange adapters, and the Octopus hub and flex-pipe design allow us to custom fit most tanks and vessels.

We use standard components, without cutting or welding on your vessel, even when we encounter incomplete or inaccurate mechanical drawings.

Whether your project involves a small vessel needing just one Octopus™ or something much larger requiring multiple Octopus™ hubs, most installations can be completed in a single day, minimizing shut-down time.

Durable Materials for Various Operating Conditions

Standard OCTOPUS materials can withstand working temperatures up to 160°F (71°C). Higher temperature options are also available:
